KONSEP DAN DEFINISI KAJIAN TINDAKAN
Terdapat pelbagai variasi dalam mendefinisikan konsep kajian tindakan. Definisi klasik tentang kajian tindakan yang pernah diutarakan oleh ahli-ahli kajian tindakan seperti berikut;
Action research is a three step spiral process of, (1) planning which involved reconnaissance, (2) taking action and, (3) fact-finding about the results of the action.
(Kurt Lewin, 1947)
Action research is the process by which practitioner attempt to study their problem scientifically in order to guide, correct and evaluate their decision and actions.
(Stephen Corey, 1953)
A form of self-reflective problem solving, which enables practitioners to better understand and solve pressing problem in social setting.
(McKernan, 1988)
A form of collective self-reflective inquiry undertaken by participants in social situations in order to improve the rationality and justice of their own social or educational practices, as well as their understanding of these practices are carried out.
(Kemmis and McTaggart, 1990)
Walaupun terdapat perbezaan pendapat tentang definisi kajian tindakan, namun ianya boleh disimpulkan sebagai satu pendekatan yang memperbaiki atau meningkatkan pendidikan melalui perubahan yang menggalakkan guru-guru menjadi lebih sedar, kritis dan bersedia untuk mengubah amalan-amalannya. Kajian tindakan juga sebagai satu kajian terhadap persekitaran sekolah yang melibatkan warga sekolah itu sendiri sebagai penyelidik dengan niat untuk memperbaiki amalan masing-masing.
